Let's celebrate Canada like we do the Raptors championshipPublished on July 22, 2019
As we celebrate our wonderful home of Canada during the month of July, we have so much to be proud of.
When I think of Canada, I think of it as being home to people who demonstrate openness, value equality and respect, and are passionate sports lovers. Thanks to our amazing Raptors, we can now add one more thing to be proud of — #WeTheChamps!
What a great way to celebrate the anniversary of Canada’s Confederation. I want to send a heartfelt congratulations to the entire Toronto Raptors organization. The Raptors truly showed us how we can pull together as a team to get the job done.
We are now in the month of July, when the days are longer, the air is warmer and summer is finally here. As we bask in the excitement of this amazing season, I want us all to continue to be inspired by the Raptors’ team spirit, and the multicultural mecca that is our beautiful Canada
If we think of our community of Mississauga-Malton with the same commitment, dedication and spirited teamwork as we witnessed with our beloved Raptors, we can work together and stay on our path to strengthening and building up our community. My team and I plan to keep that spirit going by taking advantage of the warmer weather and getting out into the community.
So far this summer, we have held two community cleanup days, a volunteer recognition dinner, a blood drive and a STEM workshop, and you may see us in your neighbourhood throughout the season. I want to thank everyone for their support. Please stay tuned for more community events, and remember that we are available at our community office during weekdays.
I encourage you all to take advantage of the summer months. Take some time to relax, get some sun and continue teaming up to contribute to our beautiful community.
In the words of NFL legend Vince Lombardi: "individual commitment to a group effort — that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work." Let’s go team!
