Deepak Hosts Family Day Paint Night

Published on February 19, 2019

MPP Deepak Anand hosted a Paint Night to celebrate Family Day with his Mississauga-Malton constituents on Sunday, February 17.

Held at Frank McKechnie Community Centre and Library, this free event brought Mississauga-Malton residents together for a night filled with art, good food, and good cheer. Attendees were provided with a canvas, paints, paintbrushes and other art supplies, and took home their works of art as a souvenir.

The attendees also had the chance to meet and interact with MPP Anand and other elected officials in a more relaxed setting. MPPs Stephen Lecee and Kaleed Rasheed, and Peel District School Board Trustees Nokha Dakhroub and Susan Benjamin were also present.

The event also marked the end of the “Blessing Bags” project, which began on MPP Anand’s Christmas Open House on Dec 14. A part of the MPP’s “Keeping Mississauga-Malton Warm” initiative, the Blessing Bags were filled with socks, undergarments and thermal garments donated by constituents over the last few months. The bags were handed over to Ms. Helene Burrowes to facilitate their distribution, and the project will resume again next winter.

Ms. Burrowes, colloquially known as the Mayor of Malton, was also recognized by MPP Anand for her many years of and continued commitment to community service, and was presented with a congratulatory scroll.

MPP Anand and his team would like to thank all those who attended the Family Day Paint Night and look forward to hosting those who could not join this year, next year. For any questions about the event or future events, please call 905-696-0367 or email [email protected]
