Remembrance Week campaign will honour Canadian soldiers for their service and sacrifice
November 8, 2018
Mississauga — Ontario’s Government for the People has launched this year’s Remembrance Day campaign, honouring Canadian soldiers past and present for their service during times of war, conflict and peace.
“Most of us will never know the horrors of war or understand the sacrifices our Canadian Armed Forces made, and continue making, to protect this country and keep us safe,” said Premier Doug Ford. “These men and women are true heroes and many of them walk among us today.”
“This Remembrance Day we reflect on the heroism of the Canadian Armed Forces. Whether they served in the First World War, Second World War, Korean War, the War in Afghanistan or any other conflict, the men and women of the Canadian Forces represent the very best of our country, our people and our values. They deserve our gratitude and our respect,” said MPP Deepak Anand. “I encourage you to join your local community on November 11 to show your respect and gratitude. Lest we forget.”
Beginning on November 5, 2018, Remembrance Week will be an opportunity for Ontarians to unite and pay tribute to members of the Canadian Armed Forces for their courage and sacrifice in serving Canada, at home and abroad. During this time, Ontarians can participate by organizing a Remembrance Day or a Remembrance Week event and share their gratitude and respect online by using the hashtag #RemembranceDay.
